Bake Sale March 23, 2024

goodiesVolunteers raised over $1900 selling baked goods and gently used pet accessories at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

All money goes to the animals because there are no salaries paid and no shelter to pay for.

Pets are fostered in volunteers’ homes until they are adopted.

Wagging tails are gratitude enough for volunteers.  The huge support of the Bancroft community is icing on the cake.

Thank you Bancroft!

Maynooth Market 2023

Chris Hass invited Home Again to her Maynooth Market Saturday December 9, 2023.

She understands that Home Again adoption fees alone do not cover veterinary expenses and food for the many dogs and cats in foster care, so fundraising is necessary to continue this important work.  Joanne Freeman, baker extraordinaire, made pies for purchase.  Donated pet-related merchandise was purchased by Christmas shoppers.

Rosemary Dixon and Clasina WeeseVolunteers Rosemary Dixon and Clasina Weese manned the booth in the morning.  Bev Guthrie, Pat Drummond and Lynn Taylor did the afternoon shift.

Kittens were available for adoption (one was adopted)..

Thank you Grail Springs

Grail Springs Retreat is an international wellness resort on Bay Lake Road in Bancroft.  Each year they throw a Christmas party for staff.  December 2019’s party included a small silent auction with the entire proceeds donated to Home Again.  Thank you Grail Springs.  Generally, people love to help a charity, especially at Christmas time.  Your staff have helped many local dogs and cats.

The Winners Are..

Home Again joined the North Hastings Quilt Club on September 14 and 15, 2019 to sell raffle tickets for these two beautiful quilts, donated by Liz Gardiner and a glass hanging created by Home Again’s own Patty McLaughlin.

Raffle tickets were also sold at Foodland, the farmer’s market in Maynooth, and TD Bank.  Draw was December 21, 2019.  Winners are:  Mandy Christl of Curtis, Catherine McInnis of Peterborough, and Jim Hughes of Maynooth.

Revenue exceeded expectations and profits will feed and provide veterinary care for many stray and surrendered dogs and cats.

Revenue from adoption fees does not cover veterinary and feed expense, therefore the difference must be made up by many fundraisers each year.

FUNDRAISER for Honey

Diana, age 79 and her husband, 86, own a farm in the area that Home Again serves.  Their barn houses at least 17 cats, as of May 2018.  People drop their unwanted cats there because it is known that Diana loves them and will care well for them.

Diana’s husband is not well and Diana is the chief care-giver, along with nurses who come daily.  This family cannot afford to spay/neuter such a large collection of cats.

One cat in particular — Honey, the first barn kitty — is well loved by Diana and her husband.  Honey is shown in this photo in the barn, nursing her own kittens and some other kittens too.

HoneyWhen they were weaned, Home Again took this litter into foster care and these kittens are now available for adoption.  Two other local rescues are helping with the over-population problem.

Home Again wants to spay Honey and return her to Diana’s barn.  Veterinary costs will be at least $140.  Will you help?  Honey is feral with everyone except Diana, who she loves and trusts.  No other home could take Honey, she is that feral.

For a donation of $20 or more, your name, your business name, and town will be published on this “Fund Raising” page, with grateful thanks.  Please click the “Donate” button TOP LEFT on this page and specify “for Honey” under special instructions.

Fund Raising

Home Again spends hundreds of dollars on a pet, but charges an adoption fee averaging $350 for a dog. Where do we make up the difference? A dozen fundraising events every year, including this one “Christmas in the Highlands” in Maynooth November 2015, where we sold calendars, raffle tickets and hand-made crafts. It is a social event too where bonds are built and renewed between the community and its animals.
