Riggs has had a lot of training in his life and it shows, he is stellar in responding to all commands once he recognizes you as the leader.  In his first 5 years Riggs had a family with small children and was great and very respectful with them. Riggs has a long list of things he loves in his life; he adores Cats and other dogs. He loves to be with people and he loves car rides. He loves the water, and loves chasing and chewing a stick.

Carly lived her kittenhood at the dump and was fed and loved by the custodian and all the customers.

She loves people and is very affectionate towards people.  Not so with other cats.  Some outdoor cats develop the attitude ‘if I kill the other cats, I will get all the food’.  So she should be your only cat.

Oreo

Oreo, Male, 10wks spaniel, lab and maybe husky Shepherd, 20lbs

Oreo is a bit of a mystery we were told his mom was a rotti, we don’t think so by looking at the 1 picture we had. But we know that he is a cute little bundle and he will likely grow to be a mid size dog, 50 or so lbs.

Oreo is a one of a kind full of life and highly active puppy that absolutely loves to have another dog to play with.

He is learning basic commands and is coming along nicely with his housetraining. He is crate trained and will seek out his crate as his safe zone, as it should be.

Oreo’s Ideal home would have a fenced in area for him to burn off some energy and play with another dog companion. Lots of toys and a dog savvy family. Like all pups Oreo needs someone that can firmly, gentle and consistently provide leadership and guidance with some play time.

We do not recommend young children with Oreo as he does mouth and play rough. Those with puppy experience will really enjoy this boy.

Oreo is vet Checked and has his 1st vaccines , dewormed.

Herman – PENDING

Herman, Male, Yellow Lab 1.5 yrs old

Herman is your typical happy, exuberant and friendly Lab. He simply just loves everyone.

One of Herman’s favorite things is trips to the lake, family outings and car rides. Herman is great with other dogs, we don’t know about cats.

Herman loves the children in his family but sometimes in his joyful moments he forgets his size and knocks them over so, we don’t recommend a family with children under 10. Herman is crate trained and house trained.

This wonderful boy is looking for a home with a fenced space to run and burn off some energy.

With just a little firm but gentle training to reinforce some basic commands Herman is going to become a really great companion to some lucky family or individual. If this boy sounds like your match please inquire at info@homeagainbancroft.ca.

Sparky – PENDING

Sparky, Male Chihuahua/Jack Russell X, 2.5 years old,11 lbs

Sparky is  a small dog with lots of energy.

We believe that he was deprived of the opportunity to have lots of attention and of play when he was younger.

Now his foster home is helping him make up for lost time.

Sparky loves to play, he plays with his toys and he plays with the family cats (who fortunately like this!)

We are told that he frequently gets the “Zoomies.”

Sparky gets bored easily. He will appreciate lots of attention.

He is an affectionate little boy who loves to sleep beside you.’

This is not a dog who can be left alone for many hours, but if you can give him the attention and training that he needs and craves he will be a joy to own.

Perhaps this is a dog who will enjoy Agility classes

If this sounds like just the kind of dog that will thrive in your family then we will love to hear from you.

Kodi – COURTESY Post

Kodi, Male, Black Mouth Cur, 6 years old, 85 lbs.

If you like adventure, then Kodi is your man! This handsome dude is looking for someone who can commit to his needs as an active dog, giving him plenty of time to run and play in a safe area.

Besides his charming looks, Kodi is housetrained, knows basic commands, and has lived companionably with cats and young children. He loves having visitors and will bark an enthusiastic hello. It may sound intimidating, but it’s really just all of his happiness and exuberance pouring out, and he can’t wait to meet you. He does jump up in these situations, but is working hard to lower his intense excitement when meeting new people.

Kodi loves car rides and walks. He will pull on the leash and sometimes lunge when he sees larger dogs, but he is making progress with this through training and practice. He is currently using a head collar or front clip harness to help him learn he doesn’t need to pull to smell the roses along the way; they will be there when he is patient, too! Continued work on leash walking will be required.

On occasion, the puppy in him will come out, and he will take items he shouldn’t and chew on them; however, he will gladly trade for a higher value item as an option. Once, when trying to get a prized possession away from Kodi with a treat, he was so quick he got the treat AND a human thumb at the same time, ouch!  Tossing several treats farther away works, and not all possessions are highly valued and thought of as prized treasures. I believe this was an accident and not an aggressive tactic by Kodi. Kodi gets along with most dogs but was reactive to one, causing his guardian to get nipped while trying to get the other dog away.

This smart fella is a gentleman with handling and at the vet. Kodi tolerates baths, even though he really dislikes the water. He has had ear drops, brushing, and nails trimmed with no issues. Kodi has even had porcupine quills pulled out of his face when he learned the hard way that no, the porcupine did not want to be chased!  He is known for his squirrel hunting prowess, which could be his breed or just who he is.  Kodi does not like the crate but is used to being alone with the run of the house for 4-5 hrs a day and has been left up to 8 hrs.

Kodi really wants to find his perfect match: someone who appreciates and enjoys an active chap who loves to run around sniffing and adventure seeking, and who will provide Kodi with enrichment and regular exercise. Kodi is up to date on all his vetting and can’t wait to start his next adventure!
For more information or to adopt Kodi, please contact Speaking of Dogs at 705-444-7637 or speakingofdogs@gmail.com.

Brothers Champ and Bear – PENDING

Champ,male Shih tzu/Poodle X,5 years old, 12 lbs
Bear, male Shih Tzu/Poodle x, 5 years old,19 lbs

These sweet little Shih/Poos were abandoned. Their owners had  left, taking all their possessions…..except their two little boys.

It is hard to believe that anyone would abandon these sweet lovable little boys and it is very fortunate that, after  several days, a neighbour realized that the dogs were still in the house and called HomeAgain.

Nobody has claimed them.

Both boys are adorable. When you snuggle with one the other is squeezing in to get his share of the snuggles.

The are good with other dogs and have been around the fosters two cats without any problems.

They are house broken and will let you know if they want to go out,

Their foster tells us that Champ is the baby and loves nothing better than being cuddled and to snuggle up to you whenever he gets the chance.

Bear is also very loving but he is more independent. He likes to sleep in his own bed.  The boys start the night together but in the morning, Champ is in his fosters bed and Bear has sole possession of the other bed.

Each dog has a cataract in one eye. They both have good eyesight in the other eye. Our vet does not recommend surgery. It would be very expensive and, more importantly, he tells  us that it is very likely that the cataracts will grow back again,

Champ and Bear  are obviously very attached to each other and must be adopted together.

The adoption fee for Champ and Bear together is $800. They have been neutered, their vaccinations are up to date and they each has a microchip.

For more information about Champ and Bear or to inquire about adopting them please e mail Home Again at info@homeagainbancroft.ca

FUNDRAISER for Lumpy

Lumpy was born with a hernia.  She was found by a Good Samaritan who understood that no one would want her until her very noticeable problem was solved.  They contacted Home Again to ask that we take her and get her the necessary surgery, which is estimated to cost between $1,000 and $1,500.  After that is done, someone will adopt her for the usual $200 adoption fee because she is sweet and loving and only eight months young.

If you can help, click on the yellow DONATE button and specify that your money goes towards Lumpy’s surgery.

Or eTransfer your donation to  info@homeagainbancroft.ca.   Under ‘Comments’ give your name and municipal address to get a tax slip if the donation is $20 or more.

For a donation of $20 or more, your name, your business name, and town will be published on this “Fund Raising” page, with grateful thanks.  Bless all compassionate people for helping the helpless animals.

Duke

Duke,  Male,  Beagle Cross, approximately 3 yrs old and 55lbs

Duke is a such gentle and sweet boy. He is really wonderful with all people including little kids. Duke loves it when you have time to give him some affection and will snuggle right in for some loving.

True to his beagle nature he really enjoys going for walks where he can take time to sniff all the wonderful smells there are out there. He is great at letting you know when he is hungry and will spin in circles when he is excited about his food arriving; He was pretty underweight when he arrived at home again.

Duke is good with other dogs, in fact he ignores the fosters other dog, we are unsure of how he responds to cats.

We believe that Duke has been an outdoor dog most of his life and it is time to bring this boy indoors; he doesn’t like cold paws anymore.

Duke would love a home with some indoor space and people who love his gentle nature and have time to teach him some new tricks. He would be great with kids and or other dogs, or not, he is pretty easy going.

Duke has been Vet Checked, Vaccinated, Microchipped and Neutered.

Bob – PENDING

Bob, Male, Great Pyrenees X, 5 years old, 84 lbs.
Not much gets this happy boy down! It’s impossible not to smile when watching Bobby at work, rest or play.

We think Bob’s mix is a herding breed, possibly white shepherd or border collie. He exhibits both herding and livestock guardian traits. Bob is smart, sensitive, and responsive. He has great manners and good recall. Bob is affectionate but not needy. He is perfect for a couple or single person experienced with either of Bob’s breed groups.

Bob loves car rides and is a friendly fella. He could do well in a home with an easygoing female dog, but would also be happy to be an only dog. New dogs can make him uncomfortable and Bob will take some time to relax.

Bob is an easy and loyal boy who only asks for leadership, love and space to watch over or have his occasional zoomies. Bob has likely always been a rural boy and we think this would be the best environment for him.

Benji is a special dog. He is one of three boys who were dumped and it took a while before they could be secured. He was the little brother of the bunch and is still very shy. But he is also sweet, gentle and sensitive.

A fenced yard is a must for Benji to enjoy his favourite pastimes of running and playing, preferably with another dog or two. He loves other dogs of all shapes and sizes. Benji will do well in a home with a canine companion or two to help his confidence and trust grow.

Benji has come a long way since arriving at his foster home. He is house and crate trained. Benji feels secure in his crate, where he will take treats and enjoy being petted. He’s still unsure of accepting treats and pets outside of his crate. Benji travels well but would greatly prefer to stay home. He finds traffic noise terrifying. A rural environment or quiet residential area would suit him best.

Benji is looking for a true rescuer—someone who will take the time to allow Benji to bond and learn that humans aren’t scary. This person will know Benji is worth the wait and that the journey will be rewarding.
