What is not to LOVE about Raina, she is a well trained girl, super affectionate. She learns quickly, knows most commands and is a great watch dog too.

She comes, does perfect sit stays, fetches and is good with children.

Some of her favorite things are Belly rubs, her humans- she really loves her humans and then maybe toys.

Too good to be true? I know; so she still has few things to learn she fetches but hasn’t learned to give the ball back such a great game for this pup and she really is still quite a pup. Not too good on leash yet and prefers to be the only dog in the house.

Primrose

Primrose, Female, Akbash, 7 months old, 66 lbs.

Primrose 3aAre you looking for the perfect guardian/companion? Look no further! Meet Prim, also fondly known as Miss P. Prim’s mom and dad are both lovely companion and working dogs. Prim has all the characteristics to be just like them.

Prim is amazing with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. She is also super with cats and kids! Prim’s favourite pastime is either ripping around with her playmates or quietly watching ‘her’ two ponies as they go about their day-to-day activities. Prim is great for alerting you to anything out of the ordinary but isn’t a nuisance barker at all.

True to her breed, Prim can be reserved when first meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and always remembers a face! Unlike many Akbash, Prim is food-motivated, which is a huge bonus when teaching this girl new things.

Prim is housetrained and crate-trained. She knows her basic commands: sit, come, lie down, and stay. Prim walks well on the leash with her people and has been working on her recall off-leash using a long line. She’s doing very well!

Prim is happiest at home but does travel well. When she’s in the car, she settles right in and naps. But being a homebody her preference would be to stay at home keeping an eye on things.

Prim is a quiet, laid-back girl inside her home. Outside, when she’s not quietly overseeing her property, she will playfully bark and bow trying to get anyone to play. This girl is truly a treasure!

Primrose has been spayed, microchipped, and her vaccinations are up-to-date. The adoption fee for Primrose is $600.00.

Bake Sale March 23, 2024

goodiesVolunteers raised over $1900 selling baked goods and gently used pet accessories at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

All money goes to the animals because there are no salaries paid and no shelter to pay for.

Pets are fostered in volunteers’ homes until they are adopted.

Wagging tails are gratitude enough for volunteers.  The huge support of the Bancroft community is icing on the cake.

Thank you Bancroft!

Merly – PENDING

Merly, female Old English Bulldog, 43 lbs,3years old.

Merly’s foster say “We think her brindle coat is beautiful…. much like her demeanour”

Merly has a very quiet and laid back personality.but with time and patience she will warm up to you.

We are happy to see that the presence of a big (Great Pyrenees) puppy in her foster home has helped Merly become socialized.  There is no aggressive behaviour in Merly but loud noises or too much activity will  make her retire to her own quiet place.

Until she is fully settled in her new home, a house with young children is not bthe best place for Merly.

Despite her young age we know that Merly has had several litters of puppies.  Maybe that is why she responds well to the puppy in her foster home.

Once she is settled in her new home Merly will be a fabulous companion for people who are looking for a quiet, well behaved, beautiful Old English Bulldog

The adoption free for Merly is $600. She has been spayed, her vaccinations are up to date and she has a microchip.

Griffin – PENDING

Griffin, Male, Australian Shepherd X, 62 lbs, 2.5 years.

Experienced herding dog lovers will love this fun and loyal boy. Griffin has a confident and engaging personality. He so loves affection…it’s better than treats.

Griffin is very expressive and wants to please. He is enthusiastic and energetic but not hyper. Hanging out with his people whether active or idle is Griffin’s favourite thing.

Griffin is super smart! He came to us knowing all the basics and more. He is very quick to learn new things. Griffin has great recall and walks well on leash. He is also muzzle and crate trained.

The many great traits of the herding dog breeds can be found in Griffin along with some of the not-so-great ones. In the past, he has chased cars and, for a short spell, did the herding nip when people tried to leave. People who know the breed should have no difficulty navigating possible unwanted behaviours if they surface while Griffin transitions to his forever home.

Griffin is friendly and playful with other dogs. A home with a like-minded female “sister” would likely be a good fit. He does love the undivided attention of his people, so being an only pet would also work well for Griffin.

Griffin hasn’t had much exposure to children and cats. For now, a child and cat-free home for Griffin is the way to go.

Griffin is a wonderful boy who will be an outstanding companion to rural people who know and love the breed.

Griffin has been neutered, microchipped, and his vaccinations are up to date. The adoption fee for Griffin is $500.00.

Happy Tales: Otis

Home Again displayed kittens at the Maynooth Christmas 2023 Market where Otis was adopted by Barb and Clayton, who report this about him:

Otis has found a wonderful place in our home and having him is such a joy.  He is so playful and rambunctious and has such an adventurous personality. He is always getting into things and following us or our other cats around. He really enjoys watching the fish and hamsters through the glass as well as

getting into any spot he can such as the cupboard, the kitchen sink, the bathroom sink, the empty mop bucket, the closet, inside Christmas presents while we are trying to wrap them, in bags or boxes, in shoes, he has fallen into the toilet several times no matter how many times we put the toilet seat down, in the trash can, even in the fridge every time it is opened.  So we always keep an eye out, ha-ha.

“He is a small ball of mischief for sure! He loves playing with the other cats and even the dogs. Our elderly cat Tommy is not too interested in play, so they just cuddle.  He loves toys so our house is covered in cat toys – feather ones, string ones, cat balls and bells. He loves treats and raw meats like venison and fish from the lake. He likes frosting too and is always trying to sneak some when we aren’t looking (he’s not very successful).
He likes to sit in windows and watch the birds.

“Overall Otis has been such a wonderful addition to our little family and he has brought so much joy and happiness to our lives.  He sleeps in our bed and naps in our laps. He is growing into such a beautiful cat and we enjoy seeing his little personality develop in our new year!”

Happy Tales: Kimmy

Kimmy was adopted by first-time cat owners Ally and Dylan, who, on day two after adoption, say:

“Thank you so much for making this adoption such a smooth process!  Kimmy has settled in wonderfully. Cozy, eating and drinking, using her litter box, and sleeping/playing!  She sleeps soundly after we brush that long hair.”

Kimmy’s birth mother walked away from her.  Lucky she was near the home of fosters extraordinaire Bev and Art.  Kimmy sleepingLucky again that they had a lactating mother cat inside who took in Kimmy with her own two kittens and fed and raised the three of them in that foster home.  Bev named her “Lucky”, now known as Kimmy.

Maynooth Market 2023

Chris Hass invited Home Again to her Maynooth Market Saturday December 9, 2023.

She understands that Home Again adoption fees alone do not cover veterinary expenses and food for the many dogs and cats in foster care, so fundraising is necessary to continue this important work.  Joanne Freeman, baker extraordinaire, made pies for purchase.  Donated pet-related merchandise was purchased by Christmas shoppers.

Rosemary Dixon and Clasina WeeseVolunteers Rosemary Dixon and Clasina Weese manned the booth in the morning.  Bev Guthrie, Pat Drummond and Lynn Taylor did the afternoon shift.
